Halloween Cocktail: The Smokey Blackberry Bourbon Punch

halloween cocktail | lark & linen

If you’ve been reading this here blog for any length of time, you may already be familiar with my love for all things holiday. I’m of the firm belief that we’re only here for a short while, and we may as well make the very most of it while we can. So I really do fully immerse myself in anything and everything that suits my fancy. Needless to say, Halloween isn’t an exception. And while I don’t typically go all out for this one, I do like to commemorate it in small but impactful ways. Whether that’s with a few notable decorations, or a creepy Halloween cocktail to sip on, it’s fun to nod to the occasion every now and again. And this Halloween cocktail, the smokey blackberry bourbon punch, definitely helps. Grab the recipe below!

Ingredients
  1. 1 cup fresh blackberries
  2. 16 oz pomegranate juice
  3. 8 oz bourbon
  4. 3/4 cup sugar
  5. 1 1/4 cup water
  6. Fresh rosemary
  7. Ice
To make the blackberry simple syrup
  1. Mix sugar, water, and blackberries in a saucepan. Heat over medium high heat for about 10 minutes, reducing heat if the mixture starts to boil.
  2. Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or jar. You can store any extra simple syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
To make the cocktails
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with the pomegranate juice, bourbon, and 8oz of the blackberry simple syrup. Shake the mixture with the lid on.
  2. Fill four cocktail glasses with ice and divide cocktail evenly among each glass.
  3. Garnish each glass with a sprig of rosemary.
  4. For a spooky effect, just before serving, light the rosemary until they are smoking.
