Trend Alert: Stripes

SHOP THE POST:

I know that trends tend to get a bit of a bad rep, depending on who you ask, but over the years I’ve changed my relationship to the term, and secretly kind of love it. Because my design style tends to remain rooted in a more timeless look, I’m always careful of incorporating anything too over the top trendy into my projects. Instead, I like to keep my eyes peeled for a more classic approach to the term. And while there’s no denying that stripes have been around forever, I can’t help but notice they’re having a bit of a moment right now (one quick scroll through my pins and you’ll see just what I mean). From drapery, to toss cushions, to fashion, and beyond, it’s a look I’m incorporating into client’s homes far and wide right now, and I seriously can’t get enough. Here’s a peek at a few striped items I’m loving right now…

Stripes are always in style so I don’t see it as a trend but a classic. I love striped tees! And stripes on furniture give it interest without being bossy. Love the upholstered ottoman!

    • I totally agree, but they’re definitely having a special moment right now. They are everywhere, even more so than normal!

I’m looking at buying two chairs upholstered in a taupe with thin black stripe. I think you just convinced me that it is the right choice. As you know custom upholstery is not returnable. Scares me a little!
