bits and pieces of Jessica

As a fellow Interior Designer, I am particularly drawn to Jessica’s blog Life’s Little Jems. Filled to the brim with inspiration of the interior, fashion and food variety (hello!), it’s definitely on my must-read list. Here are some bits and pieces of Jessica:

::A random fact::
I’m super double-jointed. The first time I realized I was so flexible I kind of freaked myself out. Now it’s an interesting conversation starter I guess.

::Your go-to recipe::
I’m a dessert girl so I’ll have to go with Chocolate Crater Cake. Anytime I have an opportunity to be with friends or family, I pop one of these bad boys in the oven. It’s super easy to bake and most importantly it’s delicious.

::You can’t live without::
Sadly, I’d have to say my Blackberry. I really wish I could live without it though.

::Currently coveting::
My 30th birthday is just around the corner so I’ve been feverishly pinning loads of things onto my Wish List. At the top of that list is a Celine Black Luggage Mini Tote. Fingers crossed! *editors note: It’s Jess’ birthday today! (No.1)

::Your daily reads::
Wow this list could go on for ages… The Goods Design and Mimi+Meg for interiors, The Life Styled and Atlantic-Pacific for fashion, Frou Frou Fashionista for lingerie, Honestly WTF for DIY’s, Eat Drink Chic for pretty things… I’m constantly reading blogs and looking to be inspired.

::On your playlist::
Jeff Buckley, Empire of the Sun, Gotye, Adele, Erykah Badu, Our Lady Peace, Madonna, Cat Stevens, Hall & Oats, Bee Gees, my husband, Roy Marx… I could go on forever. I don’t discriminate when it
comes to music!

::Your favourite quote::
“Success is most often achieved by those who don’t know that failure is inevitable.” –Coco Chanel (No.2)

::On your night stand::
A lamp, a candle, a ring dish, and a photo booth strip of my husband and I from our wedding. However, the real magic happens IN my nightstand… that’s where I store all my designer bags. (No.3)

::Your favourite designer::
I have to go with my mum. Not just because she gave birth to me, but because she is so talented. I really do wear Gold Hawk every single day, and her new Fall 2012 collection is insane. (No.4)

::In your wishing well::
I’d love to eventually design and build our dream home. Being a designer I tend to have very expensive taste and an unwillingness to compromise. I’d love to create this magical place where all my dream finishes and furniture pieces live together happily.

::Your dream home::
I often think about this… I’m not really attached to a particular style, but it definitely needs to have a lot of character. I guess in a dream world it would have elements of traditional French charm with simple modern lines and a hint of Moroccan flair. I love dark and moody spaces with pops of bright color. (No.5)

::Your happy place::
Easy! Spring, Paris, Me, My Husband, a Flea Market, and Ladurée macarons. Done! (No.6)
