Sacramento Street’s Baby Boy Nursery

Cozy lounge in this little boys nursery

Hey there! Caitlin here from Sacramento Street holding down the fort while Jacquelyn’s away on vacation. Today I’m sharing my little boy’s nursery that I recently designed. When I first sat down to design Jackson’s nursery I knew one thing, I wanted to create a peaceful oasis that we could retreat to. I’ve designed nurseries for clients in the past, and I always make sure that the nursery is an extension of the rest of your home – all while remaining unique. This project was a true labor of love and it all fell into place with ease once I came up with the concept. In the end I’m thrilled with the way it came together and its one of my favorite rooms in the house. It’s most definitely our happy place!

How to Create a Boho Inspired Living Room

A boho meets modern living room

Had you asked me years ago how I felt about bohemian inspired decor, I would have hesitated just a little. But used sparingly, and paired with some crisp, classic designs (I’m looking at you acapulco chair!), you can consider me firmly on board. I must admit, with my current schedule, I love the no fuss no muss attitude that tends to comes along with it. So long as you stick to a similar colour palette, and use it carefully and sparingly, basically anything goes! Here’s how you get the look of this boho inspired living room.

The Post that Got me the Job at SMP Living

As my time with SMP Living comes to a close, I’ve been slowly dotting all of my i’s and crossing all of my t’s. You know the drill: a deep computer cleanse, sorting through emails, filing away this and that. And during my operation organization, I came across the test post I created two years ago while interviewing for the position. And funnily enough, it all still rings true! Here’s the post that landed me a truly incredible job:

bright white kitchen with open shelving get the look: bright white kitchen

Being in the Interior Design field, there’s no question that I stay on top of trends from season to season. A souk rug here, some brass hardware there, it’s a constant hunt for what’s up and coming on the market. That being said, when it comes to designing for the long haul, I’m a big proponent of keeping it classic and often draw inspiration from my daily finds (hello, Pinterest!) A bright white kitchen, a deep farmhouse sink and open shelving displaying timeless pieces is a surefire way to ensure your kitchen will stay on point. With a few key components, it’s not difficult to bring your space from humdrum to handsome for years to come.

Get the Look: Living Room in Paris

paris apartment_living room

Ever since I posted this Parisian apartment last week, I haven’t been able to get it out of my mind. The entire home tour is borderline magical but as far as I’m concerned, this living room is the piece de resistance. It manages to bridge that gap between perfectly styled, and totally approachable. And in light of full discretion, if it were up to me, I’d have a love affair with those velvet tufted sofas. Both of them! Obviously I had to loosely recreate this look for myself, if only virtually!

Get the Look: Ladylike Living Room

I know I can always count on Victoria for my daily dose of interior lovely, but I was particularly blown away by this ladylike living room she recently featured. It’s feminine in all the right places, it feels elegant and timeless all while remaining effortlessly casual. I’ve since made it my mission to recreate a similar space in the very near future, but until the right client comes along I thought I’d tackle it virtually instead!

House Envy from Coco and Mingo

Kidandcoe_1_house envy

Hello Lark & Linen readers! I’m so excited to be holding down the fort today while our lovely Jacquelyn is soaking up the sun and beautiful scenery, as well as hopefully doing plenty of dancing at her cousin’s wedding in Mexico! I’m Jessica over from Coco and Mingo, stepping in for today’s House Envy post! I was able to find a gorgeous home that pretty much fulfilled everything I’m loving right now with interiors: white, open spaces with lots of natural light and wood, mix + match prints and patterns (especially wall coverings!), Scandinavian designs, and mostly neutral decor with pops of color.

This home is a 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 3 story residence located in Amsterdam. I came across this home while researching for my future *fingers crossed* trip to Amsterdam hopefully later this year or next! I love how it combines my other favorite (and current) city, New York, into its decor and style by using large wall decals, wallpaper, and canvas prints…it’s the perfect balance of modern and Scandinavian design that always seem to catch my eye.

The best part? This home is actually for rent, located in southern Amsterdam! Check out the full listing over at Kid & Coe (which also makes it totally kid-friendly!)

Oh, and you can get this look:
Thanks for having me, Jacquelyn! Hope you’re enjoying your time in Mexico!

Get the Look: Eclectic Dining Room

If my boyfriend would let me turn our condo into an all-out girly haven, you’d better believe this is what our dining room would look like. And since I’m fairly certain he wouldn’t be happy living amongst soft blush tones, I’m going to have to live vicariously through this space instead.

Get the Look: Pure Perfection

I know we saw this room oh… three days ago. But I seriously couldn’t help myself. I haven’t fallen this hard for a space in a really long time and I just needed to oogle it a bit longer. I thought it’d be fun to break it down to show each and every one of us how we can recreate this timeless look in our own homes (and recreate I will, I assure you!)

Get the Look: Form & Function

Though I’m a fan of design in all forms (take a look at this vs. this, for example), every once in a while I find it refreshing to find a space that has been stripped down to the bare essentials. A really wonderful throw, some incredible art, and crisp, white walls. This beautiful bedroom just further proves that great style doesn’t necessarily come with a hefty price tag.

Get the Look: Luxurious Washroom

I’m pretty certain that this washroom was one of the first things I ever pinned. It has since been sitting there staring at me for what feels like forever, all pretty and inspiring-like. It’s one of those completely timeless spaces I often find myself totally lusting after. It could easily be retrofitted into a modern day home, or pulled straight from the Chateau de Versailles, and for that I am smitten.get-the-look

Get the Look: A Boho Patio

3eb9af154be28dcaf8fc39873f63c041Now that patio season is in full swing (woohoo!) I’ve found myself perusing the interwebs for inspiration for our own outdoor space. To be honest, our teeny tiny condo balcony is nowhere near large enough for something the likes of this, but I thought I’d share it all the same for those of you who’ve been blessed with an abundance of exterior space of their own! The key to this look is a ton of fabulous layers and lots and lots of texture. Grab a bunch of linen throws, toss in a handful of incredible pillows (don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns and styles!) and add a hit of greenery to really make it sing.

I seriously cannot get enough of this dining room. I’ve found myself going back to it again and again, just to stare inappropriately. As it turns out, it doesn’t take a ton to replicate the look myself. Bonus: this is one of those rooms that will remain completely timeless for years to come.

Forgive me folks, for lately I have patios on the brain. But when spaces like this exist, can you really blame me? Living in a condo doesn’t allow us to take advantage of the great out doors on many occasions, so I’m all about sprucing up the teeny little exterior space I AM able to call my own. This image would be a great jumping off point, don’t you think?! With just a few key elements, I could easily update the 20 square feet of exterior space we have on our hands.

Ever since stumbling upon the image of this foyer, I haven’t been able to get it off my mind. The gold and gilded elements mixed with trendy pieces (like the chevron rug) keeps the space feeling young, fresh and anything but stuffy. And just when I thought I was over chevron…

With a few key elements, you too could complete this look in a space of your own.

I wanted to introduce a new series here on lark & linen in which I take a picture of a well designed room and break it down to show you how you could replicate a similar feel in your own space.

I thought I’d begin the series with this photo of a beautiful dining room that I unknowingly pinned on three separate occasions (clearly I’m a fan). By using a touch of chrome, a gorgeous wood credenza, and a fun burst of colour (in this case: plum) you could easily make this space work as your own. (Click on the links to see where the pieces have been sourced.)
