I am dying over these Gray Malin photographs of aerial beach views (taken from a helicopter no less!) Not only do I want to blow them up and hang them, well, everywhere, but I’m so tempted to dive right in and join all the fun.

How incredible are these bowls, vases and vessels? I haven’t been able to get them out of my mind ever since spotting them a few days ago. Inspired by erupted volcanos, the artist, Tabuchi Taro, has created these true works of art made entirely out of porcelain.

I’m seriously loving these sweet illustrations. Painted by Katie Rogers as an exploration on viewing objects in a different light, they really strike a chord with me. I just adore the idea of a few conventional items stripped down to their bare bones. How great would they be framed in a nursery?

Just a little peek at my new business cards that recently arrived on my doorstep. They make me embarrassingly happy, and I finally feel legitimate! If you see a crazy lady on the streets madly handing out her cards, it’s probably me.

a new look

I’ve gotten a number of questions regarding my new site design and I thought that it’d be fun to do a little round up of images that originally inspired the new look. I, of course, cannot take credit for the re-design as I worked with a wonderful graphic artist who not only prettified every last little bit (including but not limiting to hand drawing my logo), but also helped me wade through all the madness that came along with coding and the like. When we first began the process, Aprile asked me to send her a handful of images that evoked the feeling I wanted to create. Above are a few that made the cut. A collection of lovely things juxtaposed with just a hint of edge, and a soft yet spirited palette of colours that has been translated into a space that is so very me. I honestly could not be more pleased.

I’ve never felt more inclined to own my own home than I do now, if only because I feel the sudden urge to decorate its façade in gorgeous flowers and lush greenery. Since that’s not in the cards for the time being, these images will have to suffice.

While I’m typically attracted to neutral, serene spaces, every once in a while I find myself craving a little something extra. Here are a few bright pieces that are currently catching my eye. I’m pretty sure that the hot pink extension cord in particular needs to make its way into my home. (I ask you this: why aren’t all extension cords hot pink?! We should pass a by-law*)

*random but related (…somehow): the sidewalk in front of the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto sparkles at night. Wouldn’t life be better if all sidewalks sparkled? Discuss.

Ever since stumbling upon the image of this foyer, I haven’t been able to get it off my mind. The gold and gilded elements mixed with trendy pieces (like the chevron rug) keeps the space feeling young, fresh and anything but stuffy. And just when I thought I was over chevron…

With a few key elements, you too could complete this look in a space of your own.

I just can’t get over Rachel’s new online shop Mignon Kitchen Co. I must have gone back to it eight times yesterday just to peruse some more. With its focus on unique items for your pantry, pretty packaging supplies and beautiful items to adorn your table, all at a more than reasonable price-point, it just cannot be beat. Plus, the addition of the easy tips and tricks to help you bake add a lovely personal touch that I often find lacking when it comes to online shopping. I, for one, am absolutely smitten.

I wanted to introduce a new series here on lark & linen in which I take a picture of a well designed room and break it down to show you how you could replicate a similar feel in your own space.

I thought I’d begin the series with this photo of a beautiful dining room that I unknowingly pinned on three separate occasions (clearly I’m a fan). By using a touch of chrome, a gorgeous wood credenza, and a fun burst of colour (in this case: plum) you could easily make this space work as your own.
