Project: Adorable Couple

The day I announced I was launching my business, the cutest couple reached out and asked me if I could help them with their living room/dining room. It was just the confidence booster I needed during a very scary (albeit exciting) time in my life. And they ended up being the most incredible first official client in the world – which was just icing on the cake. In light of full disclosure: their place was actually completed back in February, but we’re still waiting on one last item to arrive in tact before I can get in there and have it photographed for you guys. It’s gorgeous, I’m so happy with where we landed and can’t wait for you to see it! But before we go there, let’s take a few steps back to the beginning…

For clients who don’t exactly know quite what they want, I first like to present two mood boards alongside their floor plans. I find it really gets their minds turning, all while opening the dialogue to determine exactly what they’re after (and what they despise, which is often just as important). It’s a good first step before sourcing the exact pieces, in the right scale and in the right budget, that will ultimately end up going home with them.

With a busy work schedule, a brand new puppy, and an affinity for travel, these two knew that they wanted something elegant, comfortable and inviting, but low maintenance. Enter: the “Crisp and Casual” theme. Black white and navy, with a slightly nautical vibe, it’s timeless, yet elegant, and still worked around the existing rustic elements they had previously invested in.

Next up is what I like to call “Rustic Meets Glam”. Working with, and in contrast, to the rustic dining table, and gorgeous wooden coffee table they already owned, this scheme is a little more elegant than its previous counterpart, but just as approachable.

I’d love to know, which do you prefer? I’m on team rustic meets glam myself, but that probably doesn’t come as a surprise. Stay tuned for the full reveal in the coming weeks!
