prepping for J’s birthday dinner | banana cream pie, in bed
an adorable birthday card | fancy desserts | a couple of breakfast muffins
This weekend was primarily spent helping one of my favourite people in the entire world celebrate his birthday. It isn’t often that ones birthday falls on a Saturday, and so we made sure to enjoy it in proper fashion. Dessert was had in abundance, unnecessarily fancy dinners were splurged on*, surprise drinks were enjoyed with friends, and Sundays were spent lounging (ahem. recuperating.) I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect way to spend the past couple of days. And one more OFFICIAL Happy Birthday to my love, Justin. You know. For good measure.
*Justin is a through and through meat & potatoes kind of guy. I saved up my pennies and treated him to, what I’ve been told, the best steak in the city at Jacobs & Co. We felt ridiculously fancy and had way too much fun. The bill came with take-away muffins to enjoy for breakfast the next day. Amazing. We highly recommend.

Happy belated, Justin! And what a fantastic girlfriend you are :)
I shall pass along your note :)
And thank you! That’s sweet!
The food looks delicious and I love when restaurants write on the rim of the plate in chocolate/sauce because it looks so nice! Justin must have had a blast of a birthday.
Me too! It’s not a birthday until it’s written out in chocolate, am I right?
I love that card–so cute!
Isn’t it great?? I bought it ages ago and have been holding on to it ever since haha
Sounds like a such a fun birthday! The muffins are such a great touch…we got little brownies with a bill once that were so adorable, but there was no way we could eat anything else at that point. Something for the next morning is perfect!
The muffins totally sealed the deal for me! I went to Auberge du Pommier with my mom and they gave us a little packet of spices with an attached recipe for an apple cake with the bill. It makes such a difference! It’s all about the little things
Ah what a lucky guy! The pictures are absolutely lovely! :)
What a lucky guy! Wonder what his Valentine’s plans for you are now…
haha Kirby!
LOVE Jacobs & Co. Excellent choice for what sounds like a perfect birthday weekend!
Isn’t it delicious?! Such a fan
I love that birthday card. Is it Rifle Paper Co?
No ma’am! It’s from Lucca Paper co.
love the birthday card!
