Dessert Recipes Tasty Treats

Cardamom Sugar Cookies

DSC_0154While browsing the interwebs for Christmas baking inspiration, I somehow stumbled upon on a few recipes for cardamom sugar cookies. Though I typically abide by the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” rule of thumb (in other words: classic sugar cookies remain classic for a reason), my gut told me to take the plunge and give it a try (am I living on the edge or what?) I ended up using this recipe and the results were absolutely glorious (glorious!) The hint of spice further elevated the otherwise simple treat and, dare I say it, I truly believe that they’re even more seasonally appropriate than the classic variety. Forget tradition, I’m totally sold.

They’re so pretty! I’ve never baked with cardamom before…it seems like a really interesting added element!

    Hi Jacquelyn,
These look yummy. I have been trying to find cardamom for another recipe but not having much luck. I’m in Toronto area as well. Have found it in pod format at No Frills. Guess I could try grinding it with a food rasp thingy. Do you think that would work? Anyway, I enjoy reading your blog and have a wonderful holiday season.

      Hey Carolyn!

I think that could definitely work. I’ve actually picked up ground cardamom at sobeys before. You could also try the spice trader on queen west (if for no other reason than it’s a fun place to peek at)
