Have you had the chance to make Kirby’s acquaintance yet? If you haven’t, you should take a second and head on over to introduce yourself. I’m fairly certain that she’ll welcome you with open arms, and likely offer you a cup of tea while she’s at it. From the moment I started reading her blog, The Short & the Sweet of it*, I knew it was one I’d return to again and again. Her sunny personality shines through her posts and you are almost always guaranteed a pick-me-up, often in the form of pretty things. I’m thrilled to have her here today sharing a bit more with us…
*It should be noted that it’s shared with the equally lovely Alexa
I buy birthday and Christmas presents early. Like months away from the actual days. Finding the perfect gift for someone I love is the best feeling. The only issue is, I have a hard time keeping the gift a secret!

These cookies never fail to impress (and get devoured within minutes).
::You can’t live without::
We just got a boxer puppy. Now that we have him I can’t imagine not having him!
This striped peplum J. Crew top. The price might be the best part.
::Your daily reads::
The blogs on our rotating blogroll (which includes Jacquelyn’s blog, of course). I also try to browse the New York Times so I know what’s going on in the world, and when I need a pick-me-up, Suri’s Burn Book usually does the trick.
A little bit of everything, but I always fall back on Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, The Black Keys, Mason Jennings and Regina Spektor.
::Your favourite quote::
“Sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” Lewis Carroll.
::On your night stand::
I finally got a Kindle (I just finished Gone Girl and am hunting for my next read) so there’s that. Also, I save all of my Vogues so there’s a collection under my night stand. Otherwise a little dish filled with sea glass and shells, a candle and I rotate a few framed photos.
::Your favourite designer::
I recently discovered Heidi Merrick and adore her clothing (especially this dress).
Live in another country for a few years. I studied abroad at Oxford and loved figuring out day-to-day life in a different country.
::Your dream home::
A big kitchen with a gas stove and subway tile; an old-fashioned bathtub with legs and an ocean view (I might be pushing it on that one, but a girl can dream right?).
::Your happy place::
The beach! Beacon’s Beach near where we live in Encinitas has always been one of my favorite places, but my fiance proposed there last month so now it is even more special.
