house envy:

While I’ve always been a girly girl at heart, the notion of all things princess (tulle, tiaras and the like) irks me to no end. Give me some pink, MAYBE a sequin or two, but for the love of all that is holy do not call me a princess.

When it comes to interior design, there’s no question that I’m drawn to that of a feminine aesthetic. That said, there is a fine line between pretty in pink and Cinderella threw up. All to often I see spaces in which that line has been crossed. But this one? Well, this one is an exception. The perfect example of girly done right. A hint of pink here and there, just the tiniest bit of sparkle, and worn wood to ground it all. Yes, yes and a little more yes.

  1. The kitchen!! I love white bright spaces ;)

  2. I completely agree with you. I’m a bit of a girly girl but would never go for anything REALLY pink, princess like etc. This house is gorgeous – the perfect mix! xx

This is a gorgeous home, thanks for sharing it with us!

I definitely agree. Especially in the case of a shared home, I always end up feeling a little sorry for men who live in an over-the-top feminine space. I like a fine balance, myself! This space is just so restful.

(When my sister walked down the aisle this weekend one of our little cousins said to his mother “I saw the princess!” which we all thought was very sweet. Just about the only time I can get on board with that term.)

hahaha that is adorable. In that case, the term princess DEFINITELY applies.

And SO true! I spent a very long time trying to masculinify all my stuff when moving in with my boyfriend. Poor guy doesn’t want to live in a fairytale!

This space is the perfect combo…feminine but not overwhelmingly so!

I am exactly the same way with pink and girlie things. This space, however, is perfection. I’m completely lusting over that kitchen table!

  7. And I’ll add a “yes.” :) Neutral, yet bright spaces with touches of warmth are my favorite. Love that kitchen, too!

You should’ve seen my husband’s expression when I bought a floral chair for my office space.

It was just a blank stare of disapproval, followed by a head shake and an immediate grunt of disgust.

Pretty and “girly” things aren’t meant to be for the Emes.

hahaha I just laughed out loud. That’s pretty much Justins reaction when I bring home excesively girly objects. But hey, it’s YOUR office, right?

  9. Certainly they have a knack for tables!!! Good find =)

The big clear glass vases are beautiful and are versatile – make them girlie with pink flowers or more masculine with branches. Great look!

  11. Wow that kitchen is beautiful!! I will be saving it to my files for when I win the lottery and can decorate our entire house! haha I love the neutral palette in the living room- it’s so clean and fresh but still inviting and not too stuffy!! Great house indeed!

  12. I just love the bright and airy feel to this place. Currently giving my kitchen a makeover and this has really inspired me!
