While this has been a wonderful summer thus far, there’s no denying that it’s been a busy one. With some sort of unavoidable commitment each weekend, it’s been challenging to get away for any length of time. I’ve had to forgo our yearly family camping trip and have only made it up to the cottage once (in which there was a fire ban due to a dry spell in the County). With this in mind, there is one thing that has been omitted from my seasonal to-do list: a campfire. And more importantly: s’mores – a necessary summer staple. Instead of dwelling on my misfortunes (I know, it’s a rough life) I decided to take matters into my own hands. Enter: the s’mores square. Made up of essentially the same ingredients as your standard s’more, these things could almost pass as the real deal. Though I’m unable to trick myself into believing that they were made over an open flame while wearing an oversized sweatshirt, they are undeniably delicious and make for a great alternative to your usual marshmallowy treat.

::what you’ll need::
.30-35 graham crackers, broken into small pieces
.1 ¼ cup chocolate chunks
.1 bag (250g) of marshmallows
.6 tbsp. butter
.1/4 tsp. vanilla
::what you’ll do::
.melt the butter in a saucepan
.add vanilla
.add marshmallows and stir until melted
.add the broken graham crackers
.remove from heat and add 1 cup of chocolate chips
.spread onto a greased 9” x 13” cake pan
.sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top
.place in refrigerator until cooled
.cut into squares and enjoy!

I will be making these pronto.
please do!
You have no idea how much I love s’mores. These will be making an appearance shortly
they taste like summer and childhood to me
I have such a lovely relationship with s’mores. :) These look so good…
I feel like there are such wonderful associations with them. Who has EVER had a bad s’more experience? Nobody. That’s who.
These look so yummy–and the photography is gorgeous! I make a similar bar sometimes for parties and they literally fly off the plate. Everyone loves a good s’more!
