Come January, the thought of coming up with any sort of resolution always seems like a daunting task. It’s generally one in which I tend to avoid (hence the incredible delay of this post). I often feel as if I’m setting myself up for failure from the get go. I mean, lets face it, I won’t ever go to the gym three times a week – and I don’t need to beat myself up for it. When I saw this post on pennyweight it seemed like something I could easily stick to. By breaking goals and aspirations down on a month to month basis and turning them into a pretty graphic chart of sorts, I’m much more likely to accomplish said task and it gives me something to look forward to for the upcoming month. The following are a few things I will strive to achieve throughout the next year:
| January :: make bread from scratch | February :: start painting again |
| March :: take a cooking class | April :: do something nice for a stranger |
| May :: organize my desk | June :: re-attempt an herb garden |
| July :: take a roadtrip | August :: walk/bike to work every day |
| September :: rent bikes & go on a picnic | October :: spend a day in bed |
| November :: learn how to knit |
| December :: make a gift for a neighbour I haven’t met |

Monthly goals sound like a great idea! Feb goal: make the list. Erm….bit behind.
Have you been to the wool & the gang website? HEAPS of really good knitting tutorials. I want to try & learn moss stitch this year.
I haven’t but I absolutely will now – thanks for the tip!!
I’m doing the monthly resolutions as well! January’s was No Clothes Shopping, and apart from one tiny slip on a Gilt sale that I just couldn’t pass up, I’ve done well! Haven’t decided on February’s yet.
When you say “No Clothes Shopping” does that mean you get to buy shoes and accessories??
That’s impressive! Good for you!
Love this! I saw it on pennyweight’s blog too and was thinking of jumping aboard, too… great list :)
You should! I love the idea of mini monthly goals
love your list :D and one thing you can definitely scratch off is the bread for January! yey
haha I totally can! I’m off to a great start…
I love that your goals are attainable & spread out! And making such a pretty post about them has to help. I mean I’m about to join in!
Oh, and good luck in August. :)
ugh. August. haha. I needed to challenge myself a little bit – i’ll let you know how it goes!
I love the idea of having one goal per month – seems so much more attainable. And all of your goals & resolutions not only seem possible, but are all fun!
Good luck!
Thanks Anna! I’ll keep you guys posted on how I fare
You are such a smart girl for giving yourself a goal for each month! My favorite is October (my birthday month!) “stay in bed for a day” – that month is going to ROCK! As always, you pick the most stunning images :)
Happy Friday!!
That’s my birth month as well!! I figured a day in bed would be a great birthday gift to myself :)
these are great resolutions and i love how there is one for every month and they are all totally doable!
what a great idea, I’m doing this now! Thanks for the inspiration!
Good list, good luck! xx
I love this :) Its a simple way of breaking down goals and not feeling overwhelmed by the lot of them! xx
exactly!
Agreed — if your goals and aspirations look this pretty, they’re much easier to tackle!! Love your goals for the year too. They all sound like they’ll be a lot of fun.
I love this idea! So cute. :) I might use this idea but apply it to my business. One small business goal (in order to reach my larger goals) each month. Great stuff!
aw, I love it!! Is sounds WAY more attainable than “normal” new years resolutions! All of your goals sound pretty reasonable, and fun! ….ps. can we pretend I’m a neighbour you haven’t met. I know you make beautiful things, so I can only imagine the present! ;)
haha thanks Victoria – I’ll make you a present either way :)
Totally love the monthly goals idea, it makes everything so doable!
What a beautiful idea! Your goals are so well thought out and absolutely lovely. I’m totally going to start doing this!
I like this idea. Think I might do the same.
You should! Let me know if you do – I’d love to check it out
