scenes from my weekend

With temperatures quickly soaring downwards (it was -24c this morning. Minus twenty-four!), Justin and I did not much else other than hibernate from the frigid winds outside. We watched silly television, ate takeout sushi, built floor-beds* and spent hours laying on my new mattress (note: she was delivered Saturday, and in case you were wondering, her name is Isodora and she spoils us. She is like angel love and blue-eyed puppies).

Sunday we finally ventured out of our cozy-cave for brunch at le petit déjeuner in Corktown. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was funky and fun, but the service was just okay. The benches were upholstered in sparkly green vinyl though, so that was a definite plus.

Later, we ventured over to the St. Lawrence antique flea market to see what we could get our hands on. We didn’t purchase anything, but we did find a dog dressed in jeans, suspenders and a scarf, so I’d say it was a pretty successful outing.

ps. Yesterday was my baby sisters 13th birthday. Thirteen! When in the world did this happen?! In my mind she’s still teeny tiny, with long ringlets and a loud, high-pitched voice, dancing in front of mirrors and putting on shows for anyone that would dare watch. Happy birthday to the best baby sister anyone could ever ask for. Ever.

*a floor bed is exacly that – blankets, pillows & more blankets, all strategically placed on the floor. Kind of like an adult fort, but not quite as good
