stow-on-the-wold

This may be my favourite house to date (and that’s a tall order to fill!) I stumbled across the portfolio of McLean Quinlan not too long ago and quickly got in touch with the architect. The work is beyond incredible, and I just had to share it. (As an aside, if you’d like to repost their work, shoot Kate Quilan a quick e-mail for permission. She’s very sweet and gracious!)

As a UK-based architectural firm, they seem to have a knack for blending old and new seamlessly into a space that is both incredibly beautiful and functional.

Stow-on-the-wold is an old barn converted into an amazing countryside house. With four kids and many friends occupying this home, the spaces had to be usable, abusable and still aesthetically pleasing. The juxtaposition of the worn wood, rustic stone facade, and comfortable furniture allow the rooms to feel lived in and unstuffy, while the oversized chandeliers, huge glass doors and glossy white floors maintain that sleek and sexy, contemporary feel. Take a look for yourself!
